Regional Vice President - Job Responsibilities
The Regional Vice President, Operations is a key leadership role responsible for the comprehensive management of all operational and financial aspects across the South Region, encompassing 36 Branches in 6 states. The RVP owns the full P&L for business in excess of $190M in top-line revenue. This leadership position focuses on driving strategic growth and operational excellence by overseeing the multi-state distribution network, optimizing working capital (inventory and accounts receivable), ensuring safety and compliance and managing fleet and facility assets. Crucially, the RVP is responsible for leading, developing and retaining a high-performance team while standardizing processes to maximize profitability and cash flow. The RVP will report directly to the Senior VP Operations.
- Ideal candidate will live in or be willing to relocate to Texas.
- Battery or Automotive Industry experience preferred but not required. Branch Distribution experience required
- Must have P&L management experience
Key Responsibilities:
- P&L and Financial Performance: Full ownership of the P&L for the South Region and all individual Branches (TX, OK, MO, KS, LA, NM). Drive financial performance through sales growth and inventory management while effectively managing operating costs.
- Operational Excellence and Distribution: Oversee the daily operations of the battery distribution company in the South Region, including managing inventory flow, optimizing the Branches warehouse processes, and ensuring efficient distribution of products to customers.
- Process Standardization: Define, document, and ensure consistent application of best practices across all 36 Branches for core activities such as receiving, order fulfillment, security, and cycle counting to drive efficiency and reduce risk.
- Safety, Compliance, and Assets: Ensure that all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols are rigorously followed. Manage and plan for the security, maintenance, and capital needs of the 36 Branch facilities and the regional fleet.
- Strategic Growth: Collaborate directly with the sales team to identify and secure new business opportunities while actively maintaining retention and organic growth of the current customer base.
- Team Leadership & Talent: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. This includes setting performance goals, providing coaching, conducting evaluations, and driving talent acquisition, succession planning, and retention for all operational roles.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and make recommendations for change.
- Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and partners, while acting as a key point of contact and thought leader for senior management.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with the senior leadership team within Operations and other departments to develop and execute company-wide strategies, initiatives, and adapt to industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience in operations management, preferably within a Branch distribution industry or Automotive Aftermarket Industry
- Strong leadership and management skills, with demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, and develop a distributed team of employees.
- P&L Management experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in Change Management: successfully leading significant organizational or operational change initiatives across multiple locations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex regional issues and challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite and other relevant distribution management software (NetSuite experience preferred).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel as needed within the region and occasionally outside the region
