American Sign Language Educational Interpreter (Full-Time/Staff)

ContextGlobal, Inc., is seeking a full-time ASL staff interpreter to support Deaf and Hard Of Hearing students in the Washington D.C. area.

We are supporting local school districts by providing ASL interpreting support for DHOH students in the k-12 setting. A successful candidate for the full-time or independent contractor position will be assigned to a school for the duration of a school year or as needed and provide 1:1 support to students who use ASL as their primary mode of communication.

Completion of an Interpreter Training Program or three years of experience as a sign language interpreter is preferred. Preference will be given to a candidate who has graduated from an accredited interpreter training program or who have an EIPA score or NIC Certification.

Because the position is in a public school, you be required to have a:

• TB screening
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting
• Drug test
  
  

The interview and screening will be conducted in ASL and spoken English.

Minimum Requirements Include

• Good Signing and voicing skills
• Ethical training
• Excellent customer service relations
• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds (consumers, school staff, and management)
• Knowledge of educational vocabulary and a strong understanding of ASL and Deaf culture.
