OSP Construction Manager, South West Region
Job Description:
As a Construction Manager, you will manage daily operations of self-performing installation staff, subcontractors, and superintendents while they are engaged in the construction, installation, and in-service testing of all project-related Telecom fiber optic systems. Daily tasks shall include directing and recording construction progress in real-time, as well as regular detection and resolution of any conflicts that arise during the construction process. Management of in-house construction crews as well as OSP splicing technicians.
Construction Manager Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and ensuring schedule performance and quality workmanship of contractors.
- Reviewing change proposals, proposal requests, requests for information, supplemental instructions, and other contract documentation as required.
- Reviewing and approving contractor payment requests.
- Attending local meetings, approval meetings, and conferences on behalf of the Conterra documenting and acting on items in the company’s interests.
- Maintaining relationships and acting as the liaison in matters associated with Federal, State, and Municipal matters, including the City's permitting and inspection requirements.
- Serving as an information resource by participating in meetings, resolving disputes, providing ongoing feedback, and coordinating project punch list and close-out.
- Ensure all construction work executed is in accordance with provision of the permits, traffic control requirements, and restoration practices performed.
- Provide quality control oversight on fiber construction, installation and restoration processes.
- Provide any other customary duties related to a Construction Manager role as required.
Construction Manager Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or 5-7 years equivalent experience.
- Strong consultative, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel for meetings with vendors, municipalities, or off-site contractors as business dictates.
- Ability to write clear and concise status/progress reports with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to identify resources to verify information and communicate to effectively identify problems and work out a resolution.
- Ability to work at a high level of accuracy with attention to detail.
- Ability to read engineered drawings.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
