Overview
As a member of the Technical Services Group (TSG), the Senior Lab Technician will provide technical support for current and future products for Contec’s Healthcare (Pharmacy), Cleanroom, and Professional Cleaning strategic business units (SBUs). This role will primarily involve conducting microbiological testing of textiles for the number of viable bacteria and fungi, chemical stability testing of disinfectants, and cleaning efficacy studies comparing different textiles, cleaning agents, and processes.
Responsibilities
•Conducts microbiological, chemical, and physical testing in support of multiple business units through the Technical Services Group.•Generates reports, both written and oral, with study designs, results and recommended next steps.•Conducts microbiological efficacy and chemistry testing of new and existing disinfectant using simulated real-word conditions.•Measures bioburden (numbers and crude assessment of identity) on raw materials used in manufacturing and laundered mops and wipes collected from healthcare facilities.•Conducts environmental monitoring of manufacturing facilities and assists with excursion investigations.•Coordinates testing at outside labs: textile testing, disinfectant, and decontamination efficacy.•Consults, trains, troubleshoots and supports sales personnel and customers.•Participates and works within ISO 9001 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Utilizes existing and new technologies for measuring cleaning efficacy of wipes and mops.•Assists with writing technical bulletins, white papers, PowerPoint presentations, and peer-reviewed publications on issues related to cleaning, decontamination, and disinfection.Version 4.0 Page 2 of 3•Considers options to participate in external webinars, method development associations, and technical conferences.

Requirements
Bachelor’s (B.S.) or Master’s (M.S.) degree in Microbiology or related Life Sciences field from a four-year college or university; three (3) to five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.•Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in scientific methods, as applied to microbiology and general chemistry, with effective organization of ideas, prior research, experimental design, results, and next steps is required.•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is also required.
