Description
The Paraplanner supports financial advisors by preparing, analyzing, and presenting comprehensive financial plans. This role is integral in client meeting preparation and often participates in client meetings alongside advisors to present planning components. The Paraplanner manages financial data within CRM and client-facing portals and takes ownership of analytics and reporting to help optimize client outcomes and advisor effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Presentation Support
- Prepare detailed financial plans, reports, and projections using financial planning software.
- Participate in client meetings alongside advisors, presenting plan components clearly and confidently.
- Collaborate in prep meetings to review client profiles, meeting agendas, and ensure smooth delivery.
- Perform scenario modeling and “what-if” analyses (e.g., Roth conversion strategies, retirement income projections, insurance needs).
- Develop draft recommendations for review by the advisor before presentation to clients.
- Compare multiple planning strategies to highlight trade-offs and support informed client decisions.
Data & Systems Management
- Keep client financial data current and accurate in the CRM and client-facing portals.
- Manage plan updates, organize digital documentation, and streamline client communications.
- Validate inputs across planning software, custodians, and CRM systems for consistency.
- Reconcile discrepancies between data sources and resolve issues proactively.
- Track and report on firm-wide planning metrics (e.g., percent of clients with updated financial plans).
Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor portfolio performance, client progress toward goals, and other key metrics.
- Produce reports and insights to strengthen client engagement and inform advisor strategies.
- Identify opportunities and trends in client data to refine planning recommendations.
- Develop dashboards or summary reports for advisors highlighting household performance, risk, and progress.
- Conduct segmentation analysis (e.g., by age, AUM, business owner status) to support targeted outreach.
- Deliver internal analytics on client demographics and planning adoption for leadership decision-making.
Administrative & Compliance Support
- Oversee client paperwork, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Support onboarding and ongoing maintenance of financial plans.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to compliance requests.
- Maintain version control of financial plans with clear documentation of assumptions.
- Verify that recommendations align with suitability and risk tolerance standards.
- Collaborate with compliance to maintain audit-ready plan files.
Collaboration & Development
- Serve as a technical resource for advisors, offering guidance on planning software and processes.
- Participate in case study reviews or mock client sessions to test and refine planning approaches.
- Partner with advisors on prospecting by preparing draft scenarios or introductory financial plans.
- Share insights and best practices with teammates to strengthen overall planning capabilities.

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field preferred.
- Experience with financial planning software and CRM systems.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience in financial planning support roles is required.
- SIE & Series 7 Preferred, with comfortability to pursue 66 or 63/65
