General Summary
We are seeking a Staff Accountant that is self-motivated and proactive with a problem-solving mindset. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, including journal entries and reconciliations, and assisting with month end close processes. This role will support six divisions in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. This role is also responsible for providing other company and accounting team members with financial information necessary for managerial and executive level decision making.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process and record all banking and cash transfer transactions across multiple companies including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and cash receipts
- Prepare and complete bank reconciliations for all companies
- Manage fixed asset records and track depreciation and disposals
- Prepare month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain and provide monthly financial statements and assist the CFO with month-end close
- Perform job cost analysis, WIP (Work in Progress) schedules, and ensure accurate job costing
- Record and reconcile inter-company transactions
- Maintain and reconcile debt roll-forward schedules
- Support credit card management, accounts receivable, billing and collections
- Collaborate with auditors during year end
- Prepare budgets and perform financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, including 2-3 years in construction accounting
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required: CPA or CPA track preferred
- Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to collaborate with both finance and field staff
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
