What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Manager position at Contact?
Summary:
Supervises and coordinates one or several production activities of trailer assembly, machine shop and/or sheet metal shop by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate group leads utilizing specialized knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of people, machines and equipment.
Job Duties:
Reviews schedules, specifications, and priorities to plan departmental work assignments.
Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates from production planning in order to plan department operations.
Plans shift production operations and assigns duties to workers and oversees department activities.
Establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products based on schedules and may revise priorities.
Ensures production and quality of products meets specifications.
Interprets blueprint and/or drawings, specifications and work orders for workers.
Assists workers in resolving problems and advises supervisor of complex problems.
Resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
May substitute for workers during worker absence or to relieve bottlenecks in work congested areas.
Reads, prepares, collects, and maintains reports, such as employee time and attendance records.
Ensures machines and equipment are inspected daily to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
Explains and demonstrates procedures and techniques to workers
Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to HR and senior management for action.
Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
Work with QC to implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Reviews and enforces all Safety regulations.
Recruits, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
Job Requirements:
May possess a formal four year degree
Manufacturing experience in steel, iron milling a plus and 5-8 years experience working with government regulations (DOT,ASME,ISO, etc) and supervisory and people development skills
