What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Services Fellow (Georgetown Summer Program) position at Consumer Technology Association?
Basic Function of the Position: Assisting CTA’s Legal Department with corporate legal functions.
Critical Duties and Responsibilities: (List the most critical duties and responsibilities of the position from most critical to least critical.)
- Conduct legal research on antitrust, data privacy, gaming laws and other areas
- Assist with contracts process to include:
- Processing of draft contracts including proofing, routing, editing and monitoring execution.
- Assisting staff in implementation of contract management software.
- Maintain files.
- Assist with the intellectual property process to include
- Draft cease and desist letters
- Assist with enforcement actions
- Assist with legal research and other activities related to new branding campaign
- Maintain files
- Assist with discovery requests
- Provide a strong level of customer service
Handle projects and other duties with the Legal Department as needed.
Work Experience: Previous experience working in a professional setting.
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Completion of at least one (1) year of law school required.
- Coursework in corporate and contracts law preferred.
Skills/Capabilities/Technical:
- Knowledge of legal terminology and formats required.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
- Team oriented attitude preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to meet demanding deadlines and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
