Role: Performs phlebotomy and laboratory specimen processing
Responsibilities: Collects and labels specimens following safety protocols, accurately inputs data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens. Assists with customer requests, prepares specimens for transport to reference labs, researches new sendout requests, and enters lab charges and CPT codes. Distributes specimens based on priority (e.g., STAT), and communicates results via fax or distribution. Maintains knowledge of departmental policies and addresses patient inquiries.
Qualifications & Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent, AAMA Certified Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist Certification, and hospital phlebotomy experience. Requires computer skills, 1 year specimen processing and sendouts, excellent communication, customer service, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual skills and experience with pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients are preferred.
