What are the responsibilities and job description for the PCA Personal Care Assistant position at Consumer Direct Care Network?
Personal care assistant for 24 year old autistic man in a home with other family members and dogs. Must have experience with caring for autistic individuals. Must have own transportation and able to transport to appointments and activities. Must be patient and have the ability to talk calmly when the individual gets angry. Must be able to enforce consequences for the individual disobeying rules which include taking food that doesn't belong to him, verbally and phisically threatening family members and caregivers, using electronics when not allowed. Must stay positive and caring. Must be flexible with hours available. Must pass background check. First paycheck may be delayed a month or two while paperwork is being processed. Pay is non-negotiable as the rate is set by the state.
Other responsibilities:
- Assist in personal care aspects of daily living, as well as aiding the disabled individual to maintain their activity level, transportation, home management and relationships with family and friends. Duties include making meals, monitoring personal hygeine, monitoring and limiting internet/gaming use, monitoring food intake, taking individual on walks.
- Assist the individual with medication management
- Guiding and monitoring individual's chores and responsibilities
