Data Engineer / Analyst
Location: Remote (US)
Type: Contract, through December 2026 (40 hrs/week)
Employment: W2 only. Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
About the Role
A large healthcare organization is looking for a Data Engineer / Analyst to build and maintain the data pipelines, reports, and dashboards behind its key departmental metrics. A main focus of this role is moving existing SSIS ETL pipelines to Posit and R. You'll work across IT and business teams to turn data into analysis that drives decisions.
What You'll Do
- Migrate existing SSIS ETL pipelines to Posit and R
- Design and develop ETL processes, stored procedures, functions, and views using SQL Server and Toad
- Oversee the creation and daily running of mission-critical departmental reporting
- Translate business needs into data elements across Access databases and data marts to source, extract, and transform data for reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards and data sources in Tableau and other reporting tools
- Perform exploratory data analysis, data cleansing, and data visualization
- Identify and document root causes of trends, issues, and performance gaps, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of data engineering or data analytics experience
- Strong SQL Server experience, including stored procedures, functions, and views
- Hands-on SSIS ETL development experience
- Experience with R and Posit (RStudio)
- Experience building dashboards in Tableau or similar reporting tools
- Experience with Microsoft Access databases and Toad
- Ability to present analyses and explain business impact to stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience migrating ETL pipelines from SSIS to R-based or other modern platforms
- Healthcare or insurance data experience
