Minimum Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Duties: A. Assists the physician in providing pre-procedure, procedure, and post-procedure care to the patient. B. Assists in the admission of patients to pre-procedure and post-procedure areas according to established guidelines. C. Implements appropriate nursing activities to provide safe and individualized nursing care. D. Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting. E. Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the medical team. F. Administers medication per order of the physician and based on the condition of the patient. G. Provides comfort, reassurance to the patient, and maintains the patient’s privacy and dignity. H. Explains procedures and care to the patient. I. Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation pre-procedure, during the procedure, and post-procedure. J. Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly. K. Assists in explaining the physician’s post-procedure instructions to the patient/family. L. Performs with competence in emergency situations. M. Conducts a post-procedure phone call to follow up with the patient the day after the procedure. N. Participates in Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, and Infection Prevention Committee projects.
