JOB SUMMARY:
With direction and guidance from the Program Manager, Case Manager will provide housing services and social services to refugee and immigrant families who are residing in New York City shelters. Case Managers will complete culturally sensitive assessments to identify strengths, barriers, and service needs; identify appropriate housing and other resources in the community related to accessing and maintaining housing.

Job Responsibilities
- Case Manager will carry caseloads of 20 individuals or families and will be culturally sensitive
- Bilingual Spanish, French Creole/English case management
- Interact with new applicants and various city and state agencies.
- Request client applications from referral source for vacancies and coordinate interviews of applicants.
- Assist participants in locating and securing housing of their choice.
- Assist participants in locating and securing housing of their choice.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Must be flexible and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with all staff levels and management orally and written communication.
- Review and collect approved applicant eligibility documentation.
- Helping individuals and families in need of affordable housing.
- Helping to locate and secure rental housing.
- Providing information on government housing programs and subsidies.
- Determining eligibility for housing opportunities, coordinating with non-profit organizations, and negotiating housing terms.
- Facilitating housing programs and services, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulations
- Assist clients with subsidy application preparation.
Job requirements
- Associate degree or relevant social services experience with vulnerable populations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and problem-solve
- Strong organizational skills
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with refugees/migrant families/supportive housing/shelter
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of immigration laws and procedures
Preferred qualifications
- Fluent in English, French Creole/Spanish (written and spoken)
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field two years of relevant experience working with people who are vulnerable and have experienced significant trauma
- Knowledge of immigration laws and regulations
- Performs related tasks as assigned.
