What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic position at Construction Masters Services?
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the operation of the company's service truck and crane to repair equipment on job-sites. This role also inspects, services, and maintains vehicles and equipment in the shop. Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the service and repair of heavy equipment as well as fleet trucks, light equipment and tools
- Diagnoses faults using computerized testing equipment
- Adjusts equipment and replaces faulty parts
- Performs major repair work when necessary
- Reports damaged or faulty equipment to management
- Drives to job sites to make repairs on site
- Maintains detailed records of service vehicles
- Ensures shop is clean and organized
- Owns and maintains a master mechanic set of tools
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures Education, Skills and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment
- Ability to operate service truck with crane
- Fabrication & welding skills required
- Ability to work independently, utilize good judgement and make decisions
- CDL preferred
- State Inspection license preferred
- Experience with paving equipment preferred Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 50% and make repairs at job site
- Ability to withstand all weather conditions
- Available to be on-call for emergency repairs
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds
