The Opportunity
ConstructionExecs is partnering with an established structural steel contractor to identify an experienced Field Operations Manager to lead field execution across multiple structural and miscellaneous steel projects.This is not simply a project management role. We are looking for a proven steel professional who can lead superintendents and union crews while maintaining control of manpower, scheduling, safety, equipment, costs, and overall field performance.
The position combines field leadership, project management, and operational responsibility and offers an opportunity to become a key leader within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee field operations across multiple concurrent steel projects.
- Lead superintendents and union field personnel.
- Coordinate manpower, cranes, equipment, deliveries, and subcontractors.
- Monitor schedules, productivity, job costs, and project performance.
- Review drawings, specifications, and field conditions.
- Support change-order identification and pricing.
- Maintain strong relationships with general contractors and customers.
- Coordinate closely with project management and estimating.
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, and accountability.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10 years of structural steel, steel erection, or closely related experience.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects, superintendents, or field teams.
- Strong knowledge of structural and miscellaneous steel erection.
- Experience managing union labour.
- Knowledge of cranes, rigging, equipment, and erection logistics.
- Strong understanding of scheduling, manpower planning, job costing, and change orders.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- OSHA 30 preferred.
The Right Person:
We’re looking for someone who has progressed beyond managing an individual project and is ready to take ownership of field operations across an organisation.
You should be equally comfortable walking a steel erection site, leading field personnel, solving construction problems, and discussing schedules, manpower, costs, and project performance with company leadership.
The position supports projects throughout New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania and requires regular travel to active job sites.
