We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll Specialist with a strong background in construction payroll, union payroll, prevailing wage reporting, and labor compliance. This role is responsible for processing accurate weekly payroll for 100 union employees while ensuring full compliance with certified payroll, DIR, public works, union benefit, tax, deduction, and reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of progressive payroll experience in the construction industry and is comfortable managing the full payroll cycle in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for 100 union employees.
- Manage the full payroll cycle, including hours, deductions, tax withholdings, wage rates, benefits, and payroll adjustments.
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports and labor compliance documentation.
- Handle prevailing wage reporting for public works and construction projects.
- Submit and maintain reporting through systems such as DIR, LCP Tracker, Elations, and other labor compliance platforms.
- Track and process union benefit contributions, dues, fringes, and related reporting.
- Enter and maintain payroll records for new hires, salary or wage changes, terminations, and employee updates.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, compliance, and proper job coding.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll files, records, and documentation.
- Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Partner with accounting, HR, project teams, and field leadership to ensure payroll and compliance deadlines are met.
- Support audits, reporting requests, and compliance reviews as needed.
Qualifications
- 3 years of progressive payroll experience, preferably in construction.
- Experience processing union payroll is required.
- Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with DIR, LCP Tracker, Elations, or similar labor compliance systems.
- Experience processing payroll for 100 employees.
- Strong understanding of wage rates, deductions, tax withholdings, benefits, and union contributions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems.
- Experience with Foundation software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Ability to meet weekly payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset when supporting employees.
