Technical Documentation Manager

Role Description:

We are currently seeking highly organized and detail-oriented individuals to fill a hybrid role of Technical Documentation Manager with experience creating electrical and mechanical documentation.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability support multiple departments by producing accurate CAD drawings, technical documents, and product information in accordance with ISO standards and internal QMS procedures. This position involves close collaboration with engineers, technical support, product managers, and production to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance across all design deliverables. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and revise wiring diagrams, system layout drawings, mechanical assemblies, and detailed 3D product drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, BOMs, assembly manuals, and product data sheets.
  • Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with ISO 9001, QMS, and company standards.
  • Manage and track documentation and design revisions using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project leads to verify design accuracy and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare technical specifications, procedures, and manuals for production and installation.
  • Support 3D printing activities, including model preparation, prototype validation, and maintenance of additive manufacturing equipment.
  • Record and report work activities through the company’s time tracking system.
  • Assist in the creation and management of BIM objects and Revit files for integration into architectural or engineering models (experience in this area is an asset).
  • Conduct occasional on-site measurements, inspections, or reviews (including travel to Toronto 1–4 times per year).

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a similar field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting, design, or technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, QMS procedures, and PLM tools.
  • Strong technical writing and document control skills.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing processes and technologies.
  • Experience with BIM / Revit files considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
