What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher position at Consolidated School District of New Britain?
These special education teaching position are within a self-contained special education classroom within a general education, public school setting. One is with students who have an autism diagnosis and one is with students who have an intellectual disability and are at varying grade levels.
Responsibilities
- Implement reading, math and science curriculum within the Unique Learning System with benchmarking and regular progress monitoring.
- Participate in regular data reviews in order to make data-driven, student-focused, decisions.
- Ongoing use of alternative and augmentative communication as required in order to increase communication skills of students.
- Oversee paraprofessionals within the classroom and maximize their effectiveness in assisting students with both academic and functional life skills.
- Develop relationships with parents and colleagues in order to increase outcomes for students.
- Work as a multi-disciplinary team member.
Qualifications
