What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Intern position at Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co., Inc?
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Audits: Assist in monitoring compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Conduct routine job site safety inspections and facility walks.
- Risk Assessment: Help perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and evaluate the adequacy of safety controls.
- Incident Investigations: Participate in investigating workplace injuries or near-misses, and track the implementation of corrective actions.
- Training & Communication: Assist in organizing safety training sessions and creating engaging safety awareness materials or "toolbox talks".
- Data Management: Maintain safety metrics, electronic injury logs, and documentation related to workers' compensation or environmental compliance.
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related engineering field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and an aptitude for data visualization or analytics tools .
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Physical/Environment: Comfort working in dynamic environments, which may require walking on uneven surfaces in manufacturing or construction settings.
