Director, David Merage Foundation for Confronting Antisemitism 

 

Summary

We are seeking an exceptional communicator – Fearless and Bold, who confronts sensitive issues head-on with nuance; earns trust across ideological, cultural, and political divides. This individual will shape and accelerate initiatives designed to shift public understanding, strengthen community resilience, and influence broader societal change.

This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned professional who thrives in complex, high‑stakes environments; possesses a deep understanding of antisemitism—historical, contemporary, and systemic; and has a demonstrated ability to translate strategy into bold, measurable action. The ideal candidate is a courageous changemaker who can navigate sensitive issues with both diplomacy and strength, while inspiring collaboration and delivering tangible results.

Operating within a fast‑moving family office structure, this leader must be flexible, entrepreneurial, and comfortable building new programs from the ground up. The position reports directly to Laura Merage, Co‑Founder of the Foundation, offering close partnership with senior leadership and the ability to influence strategy at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting directly to Laura Merage, the Director will: 

  • Advance and implement the Foundation’s strategic vision to confront antisemitism and Jew Hate in the United States.
  • Lead initiatives that mobilize public awareness, influence policy, and foster partnerships across sectors.
  • Serve as a thought leader and advocate, leveraging historical context, current trends, and best practices to shape effective interventions.
  • Ensure operational excellence while maintaining agility in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile 

  • Strategic Leadership: Has led national or multistate initiatives addressing societal challenges; demonstrates courage, clarity, and long horizon strategic thinking; has delivered measurable systemic impact.
  • Subject-matter understanding of Antisemitism: Deep, credible expertise in historical, contemporary, and systemic antisemitism; can articulate trends, drivers, and intervention strategies with authority.
  • Coalition Building: Has built and led coalitions across philanthropy, government, nonprofits, and/or private sector; demonstrates high EQ and diplomatic skill; known for convening power.
  • Strategic- Operational Agility: Proven ability to set bold strategy and translate it into measurable results; thrives in fast paced, ambiguous environments; operates like a startup founder.
  • Diplomatic Influence: Exceptional communicator; handles sensitive issues with nuance; builds trust across ideological, cultural, and political divides.
  • Innovation, Creativity, and entrepreneurial mindset: Demonstrated history of building new initiatives, innovating beyond traditional approaches, and thriving in startup like environments.
  • Operational Competence: Strong systems thinker; manages budgets, timelines, CRM tools, and complex workflows with excellence.

  • This role demands a high-performing, entrepreneurial leader who is not only passionate about the mission but also equipped with knowledge, experience, and resolve to drive systemic change

    Experience & Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Management or related degree, Graduate degree highly preferred
    • Experience in collective impact, convening and leading other organizations towards common goals, developing funding partners and alliances
    • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
    • Preferred experience with startups in Philanthropy/Nonprofit administration
    • Preferred experience or exposure to confronting antisemitism

    Travel 

    • Approximately 30%
    Salary Range 

    • $150,000 - $175,000 annually
