Job Description Central Gas Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting critical gas engineering initiatives and ensuring operational excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, a commitment to quality, and alignment with Con Edison's core values and mission. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies, review equipment operation, and generate and drive corrective actions. Review and maintain System Descriptions, P&IDs and other design basis documentation. Perform root cause analysis of component failures and forced outage. Provide engineering support to the Astoria LNG Plant and the Hunts Point Compressor Station. Participate in project planning, outages and construction processes. Generate or review acceptance test plans and oversee or observe testing/commissioning. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required. Qualifications Required Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of engineering work experience in the gas or power generation industries, or Master's Degree with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of engineering work experience in the gas or power generation industries. Relevant Work Experience Thorough knowledge of gas or power generation equipment and systems, required. Knowledge of utility industry safety standards and process safety measures, required. Ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company industry codes, standards, procedures, and specifications related to LNG plant design and compressor station systems, required. Ability to deliver exemplary customer service, required. Must possess strong technical competence, be well organized, and detail oriented, required. Must be flexible to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities and meet deadlines, required. Must have a high regard for personal accountability, and understand the critical importance of Commitment to Engineering Excellence, required. Strong leadership skills with the ability to positively motivate others, required. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with colleagues, internal/external customers, agencies, and various levels of management, required. Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), required. Experience in LNG plant design and compressor station systems design, preferred. Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated analytical skills Effective leadership skills Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments Licenses and Certifications Driver's License Required Physical Demands Ability to respond to system emergencies Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses Additional Physical Demands The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
