The Operations & Maintenance Technician monitors and operates all plant systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power generation. The OMT responds to alarms, performs startup and shutdown procedures, troubleshoots equipment issues, and supports maintenance activities. This role involves operational control, technical problem-solving, and adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Dartmouth Power Associates power station is an operating power station of at least 74-megawatts (MW) in Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain combined-cycle power plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all plant systems, relay tripping schemes, operating procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Maintain awareness of all applicable NERC Reliability Standards.
- Investigate and clear plant alarms; report abnormalities promptly to the CRO.
- Assist with turbine, HRSG, and auxiliary equipment startup, shutdown, and operation.
- Maintain accurate plant logs, records, and performance data using monitoring systems and instrumentation.
- Diagnose process issues and safely adjust operating conditions within skill capabilities.
- Monitor and test plant water chemistry to ensure proper steam and boiler conditions.
- Participate in training new OMTs and complete required company training and qualification programs.
- Operate plant equipment including trucks, cranes, forklifts, and manage off-hour deliveries.
- Utilize plant security systems and ensure adherence to all safety procedures, including Lock-out/Tag-out.
- Support maintenance activities, including equipment testing, troubleshooting, and execution of preventive maintenance work orders.
- Prepare accurate defective equipment reports.
- Occasional work with OSHA-classified hazardous materials.
- Overtime may be required during outages, emergencies, vacations, or plant needs.
