The Chemical Technician at Ormond Beach Generating Station ensures the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of chemical processes and systems critical to power plant performance. This role involves performing chemical analyses, monitoring and maintaining plant chemical treatment systems, supporting safety and environmental compliance, and providing technical expertise to troubleshoot and optimize operations. The technician collaborates across teams, supports training, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate technical data on plant chemical processes and equipment to management and technical staff.
- Troubleshoot chemical-related issues in power plant systems and equipment.
- Perform gas fuel tracking, air monitoring, and compliance reporting, including annual reports.
- Complete GADS operating reports for Ellwood and verify waste manifest documentation.
- Support safety training, scheduling, and site safety inspections.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment, conduct chemical analyses, and perform calculations.
- Collect and analyze process and environmental samples to ensure production and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and optimize plant chemical treatment systems.
- Support chemical cleaning activities and provide skill enhancement training to colleagues.
- Assist maintenance and operations teams with tools, equipment, and company vehicles to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable unit operations.
- Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and cost-effective resource use.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
