CAMS is seeking a detail-oriented and Accounting Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
Gavin Generation is a 2,600-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power station in the village of Cheshire, Ohio, United States. It is majority owned by Energy Capital Partners and a minor stake is held by Javelin Global Commodities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of budgets and forecasts
- Perform variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings
- Prepare and post journal entries and other financial transactions
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Develop and maintain complex financial models and spreadsheets
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools to support data-driven decision-making
- Use Power Query and/or similar tools to automate data extraction, transformation, and reporting workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support decision-making
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
- Process invoices and manage accounts payable/receivable transactions
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- At least 3–7 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, or finance
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, financial modeling, etc.)
- Experience with general ledger maintenance and reconciliation
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Power Query and/or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Experience with ERP or accounting software
- CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification
- Experience in the energy or related industry
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business.
