Maintenance Technician – Sober Living Homes

Status: Part-Time / As Needed (Non-Exempt)
Location: Multiple Sober Living Homes – Spokane, WA
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality and overall condition of Consistent Care Support Services' sober living homes. This position performs a variety of preventative maintenance, repair, and property improvement tasks to ensure homes remain safe and well-maintained for residents.
This is a part-time, very flexible position. Work assignments are based on maintenance requests, property inspections, resident turnover, emergency repairs, and facility improvement projects. The Maintenance Technician works independently while maintaining regular communication with the Program Director regarding maintenance priorities and completed work.
Essential Functions
The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs at sober living homes and related program facilities.
- Complete routine repairs involving plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, flooring, carpentry, doors, windows, locks, appliances, fixtures, and cabinetry within the scope of experience.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failures and extend the life of building systems.
- Inspect properties regularly to identify maintenance, safety, or repair needs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and prioritize urgent repairs.
- Prepare homes for new resident occupancy, including repairs, painting, furniture assembly, and minor improvements.
- Replace smoke detector batteries, HVAC filters, light bulbs, and other routine maintenance items.
- Assist with minor landscaping, exterior cleanup, debris removal, and seasonal property maintenance.
- Coordinate with outside vendors or contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Document completed repairs, maintenance activities, and recommendations for future work.
- Operate all tools and equipment safely while following OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the operation of the sober living program.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in general building maintenance, residential property maintenance, facility repairs, or related construction work preferred.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, appliance repair, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Valid Washington State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Reliable transportation with the ability to travel between multiple program locations.
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Climb ladders and stairs.
- Bend, kneel, squat, crawl, and reach overhead.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Perform physically demanding work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Work in varying weather conditions when necessary.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time, as-needed position. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on program needs, maintenance requests, emergency repairs, resident turnover, inspections, and facility improvement projects. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
