The Energy Marshall sits within M/E/P Services and provides field leadership for energy control, energization readiness, system isolation, configuration control, startup, and turnover on data center and mission-critical projects. This role works closely with MEP superintendents, trade partners, vendors, controls teams, commissioning teams, and operations personnel to ensure systems are safely prepared for energization, testing, and operational transition. 

 

Responsibilities / Essential Functions 
  • Lead energy-control activities and maintain primary accountability for safe energization readiness across assigned systems. 
  • Plan and coordinate LOTO, system isolation, energization boundaries, and transitions required for installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and turnover. 
  • Maintain configuration control during construction, startup, testing, and turnover, including system states, isolation boundaries, temporary connections, bypasses, and documentation. 
  • Review drawings, specifications, sequences, and field conditions to confirm systems are ready for energization and testing. 
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning, and operations teams to align energy-control activities with the project schedule. 
  • Support startup and commissioning readiness by confirming prerequisites, documentation, testing requirements, and safe work conditions are in place. 
  • Conduct field walkdowns and verify installation, labeling, documentation, and readiness before energization or testing. 
  • Track and communicate risks, constraints, deficiencies, and readiness concerns that could affect energization, startup, or turnover. 
  • Support cutovers, operational transitions, contingency measures, and turnover activities. 
  • Promote safe work practices, permit-to-work requirements, and project safety expectations throughout energy-control activities. 
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams and trade partners regarding energy isolation, configuration control, and energization readiness. 

Key Skills 
  • Strong understanding of electrical and energy systems, LOTO, system isolation, configuration control, startup, commissioning, and turnover. 
  • Ability to coordinate field teams, trades, vendors, controls, commissioning teams, and operations personnel.  
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. 
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical safety requirements and permit-to-work practices. 

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience leading or coordinating energy-control, energization, electrical, or mission-critical project activities. 
  • Experience with LOTO, system isolation, configuration control, startup, testing, and commissioning. 
  • Data center or mission-critical experience preferred. 
  • Experience with installation, quality control, mechanical and electrical completion, turnover, and commissioning/startup activities. 
  • OSHA 30 preferred, or the ability to obtain it within 30 days. 
  • Willingness to travel and/or relocate for the duration of the project preferred.
