Conservatory Lab seeks a motivated and enthusiastic team player to lead students in wellness activities and support our Afterschool Athletics Program.. The ideal candidate will build excitement for school based programs and school initiatives. The sports and cooperative plan specialist is interested in building a unique program that not only teaches students about sports but creates opportunities for teamwork that demonstrate the CLCS CREW qualities.
Physical Education Teacher:
Organize and lead daily physical activity for students, grades Pre-K-8
Plan lessons and activities that promote familiarity with various sports and basic skills to participate in organized games
Lead cooperative play to promote team building
Provide consistent motivation, enthusiasm, and role modeling for healthy lifestyle choices
Document student activities, participation, and services provided
Lead wellness initiatives to promote physical activity and nutrition
Utilize CLCS “CREW qualities” during cooperative play activities
Support academic instruction by working collaboratively within the classroom with content teachers
Support Crew with group of middle school students to promote social development, goal setting and reflection
Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch and recess
Assist with special projects and events
Perform other duties as assigned
Athletics Coordinator
Manage all sports equipment inventories.
Coordinate gyms, and athletic field use for student athletic events.
Coordinate gym and field use for practices and games.
Coordinate with coaches to schedule applicable athletic events.
Coordinate with the league, applicable vendors and leadership to make sure all requirements are met.
Prepare a master sports calendar that includes conference and non-conference games/events
Coordinate with the leadership team to schedule all offsite athletic events and necessary transportation
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, and effective instructional strategies
Support the hiring of coaching staff, coordinating with Human Resources and school administration.
Observe and evaluate all coaches, holding them accountable for following all league, district, city, state regulations.
Coordinate collection of rosters for program information as needed
Attend at-home athletic events
Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis, making recommendations for improvement to the COO and Principal
Meet with, orient, and provide in-service training for all coaches within 3 weeks prior to the sports season and hold an evaluation conference with all coaches within 3 weeks after the conclusion of their sport season
Manage the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and athletic programs
Provide a channel through which students and the community may express their concerns about the athletic program or coach
Distribute CLCS materials and enforce CLCS rules and regulations, including player eligibility
Collect, file, and notify athletes and coaches regarding student eligibility as it pertains to cit, state, and district requirements and athletic codes of conduct
Collect and maintain on file, properly completed and current physical exam card for every student participating in athletics
Distribute and maintain on file athletic training rules and codes of conduct signed by students participating in athletics
Administer the school athletic code in a fair and consistent manner within the intent of the code and the missions of CLCS
Ensure District adherence to all city, state, and district policies, administrative rules, procedures and codes relating to participation in athletics
Coordinate ordering of uniforms, and other awards
Coordinate postseason awards ceremonies
Attend athletic conference meetings
Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years experience implementing physical activities and coaching in school-based, after-school, and/or community-based settings
Comfortable working in various urban settings and with diverse populations
Team-oriented with strong organizational and collaborative skills
Adapts well to changes in assignment and priorities with the ability to respond effectively to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles
Available for after-school activities
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Willingness to model standards of nutrition and activity and personally demonstrating the caliber of performance and behavior that is expected of the staff and students
