We’re seeking an early-career writer to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Director of Storytelling, you will be responsible for high-quality communiques (speeches, op-eds, media statements, etc.) by the CEO and other senior leaders, world-class scientists, and high-profile surrogates. You’ll function as a translator between experts and the public, as well as an in-house strategist, helping our leadership build their public profiles, navigate complex issues, and maintain message discipline.

Responsibilities
The executive writer will:
- Draft speeches, talking points, op-eds, media statements.
- Draft press release quotes, high-level CEO correspondence, and more.
- Proactively identify opportunities for thought leadership.
- Contribute to external communications efforts around text- and video-based content.
- Maintain knowledge of projects across the entire organization and develop relationships with subject-matter experts.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position may require occasional domestic or international travel.
- Guidance on flexible work arrangements will be shared during the interview process.
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in speechwriting or executive communications.
- Previous experience in research and writing speeches and communications content for others.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and compelling op-eds.
- Knowledge of the environmental, political, and media landscape.
- Interest in environmentalism ability to learn quickly.
- Cross-cultural competency, scientific literacy, and the ability to collaborate with people across the organization and work on tight deadlines.
- Experience managing clients or high-profile principals;
- Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese;
- Placed writing (self-bylined or ghostwritten) in a national news outlet.
