Title: Senior Accounting Manager

Starting Salary Range: The starting salary range for this position will be in the $88,400-$91,052

range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position. Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.

Location: Durango, CO, with part time remote eligible

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

The Senior Accounting Manager position is responsible for managing accounting services including the Accounts Receivable function. This position maintains the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data and supports the Finance Team throughout the monthly and annual close process. The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Accounting in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. The position ensures compliance with applicable regulations including GAAP and the CFR. The position provides day-to-day support of accounting operations. The Sr. Accounting Manager supervises the Accounts Receivable team and provides support to the Director of Accounting.

Outcomes & Functions Of Position

Accounting & Financial Management

  • Maintains the integrity of general ledger (GL) for the organization.
  • Performs advanced GL reconciliations and resolves transactional conflicts.
  • Supports treasury management including processing weekly deposits. Completes grant analysis on revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversees the completeness, accuracy of AR and AP.
  • Provides direction, coordination, training and support of finance staff as needed.
  • Supports the weekly payable process and other administrative in-office tasks. Continually assesses current policies, practices, procedures, and operational processes; provides recommendations and initiates improvements.
  • Assists in the management of the annual single audit; prepares and reviews audit schedules; coordinate staff.
  • Assists the Director of Accounting in the monthly close process; review and post transactional entries and reconciliations.
  • Train and support AR and AP functions

Organizational Advocacy

  • Successfully engages, leads and supports a positive work environment for all within the organization and the communities we serve.
  • Leads and/or participates in organizational-wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the Strategic Plans goals.
  • Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual.
  • Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, advanced technical accounting skills required.
  • Minimum of 6 years managing administrative systems in non-profit or similar organization preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to keep others and oneself, in remote locations, accountable to expectations.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies.
  • Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements.
  • Ability to successfully work in a fluid, changing work environment.
