About This Role
Consertus is seeking Junior Project Cost Estimator to support Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) capital projects. This onsite role supports the development of independent cost estimates, change order pricing, and claim analysis to help establish negotiating positions for project teams and LAUSD stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an SME for department systems and support system integration/implementation efforts.
- Reconcile financial accounts and reports, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly to maintain controls.
- Prepare preliminary independent cost estimates for comparison with designer and contractor estimates to support negotiating strategy.
- Assist in preparing change order estimates to establish negotiating position.
- Support price negotiations and estimate-related discussions.
- Prepare claim analysis and cost estimates.
- Develop detailed construction cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and sketches.
- Assist with review of contractor claims and proposals for merit, scope, and accountability.
- Track current cost and pricing trends for labor, materials, supplies, and services.
- Compare independent estimates to contractor proposals and identify differences/variances.
- Develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC responses and estimate costs independent of contractor proposals.
Required Experience
- 2 years of full-time professional experience in construction estimating for facilities and/or school construction.
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college/university in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs.
- Experience developing and estimating change order scopes.
- Ability to compare independent estimates with contractor proposals to identify differences.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong fact-finding and in-depth analytical skills.
Compensation Range: $104,000 - $114,400 annually; Eligible for Bonus
