Responsible for personal safety performance and safety of subordinates and those working in office area.

Supervisory responsibilities
Leadership
Directs and coordinates the make-up, dispatch, switching, classification, and movement of trains, engines, and rail cars, accommodating the inbound and outbound and/or yard traffic.
Value
Demonstrate ability to change with the work environment as needed.
Other Duties
Must be able to work irregular shifts, weekends and holidays
Must be able to respond to changing work assignments
Must be able to assume responsibility for the safety of others
Physical examination required including drug and alcohol screening
Must be able to qualify on the NORAC book of rules
Must be able to qualify on Conrail’s computer systems applicable to Yardmasters

Customers located along Conrail’s lines in these shared asset areas have access to the nation’s rail network through either NS or CSX.
Although Conrail no longer handles commercial matters for customers, we continue to play a critical role in serving shippers and receivers as an agent for our owners. As a local rail service provider, it is Conrail’s job to make sure that customers’ freight shipments are safely and efficiently moved between their rail sidings and the long-distance freight trains operated by CSX and Norfolk Southern.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to interact with employees and work as part as a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and customer focus.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- 3-5 years related experience.
- Work extended and irregular hours.
- Some locations require climbing stairs.
- Perform activities involving the use of hands.
- Respond to audio signals.
