CQS has an exciting opportunity for a Building Automation System (BAS) Intern to join our team for the summer. This internship is designed for candidates interested in a career in engineering. The internship experience offers an environment that provides practical, challenging, and meaningful on-the-job work experience, and the opportunity to apply knowledge and demonstrate strengths in efforts to assist CQS in achieving its business strategy.
This ten (10) week internship will be from May 12, 2026 to July 20, 2026 for up to 30 hours per week. The internship is not eligible for overtime work.
Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Attending coordinated site visits to current CQS customer project sites
- Learning to identify various mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building automation systems and understanding the process of documenting existing conditions and recording system performance data
- Reviewing with a CQS BAS engineer/technician how/if the building processes can be improved through an improved BAS control sequence of operation (SOO)
- Learning the fundamentals of writing programs to control direct digital control (DDC)
- Working with CQS engineers and technicians to generate and download BAS software to DDC controllers and checking out the functionality of each control. During this process, you will learn the ins and outs of a typical BAS process and workflow
- Learning how to develop BAS submittals
- Performing point-to-point checkout on BAS devices that control the mechanical equipment, ensuring proper device function
- Assisting in the preparation of project documentation
- Observing the mechanical equipment once under full DDC control, to verify that the programming sequence is carried out correctly, following the project Sequence of Operation (SOO)
Job Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university engineering program
- Highly proficient with computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Available for a Summer 2025 Internship (May-August)
- Available at least 24 hours per week on weekdays
