What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ferrari Challenge Crew Chief position at Conquest Racing?
Position Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for providing direction to the Ferrari Challenge crew and, alongside the Team Manager, overseeing the operation. Using your mechanical, technical and leadership experience and skills, you will be expected to lead the mechanics to produce competitive and reliable race cars while running an efficient operation at the shop and on the track. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership and communication skills, interest/passion for racing, be self-motivated and driven while having a good work ethic and have an innate desire to do things the correct way.
Requirements:
- Be able to direct and work alongside crew members on all systems of our race cars, fully prepare and maintain them, with the highest level of attention to detail, while meeting tight deadlines that frequently come with racing schedules.
- Anticipate needs, order parts, create inventory, follow up with vendors and sub-contractors, coordinate repairs, amongst other.
- Work alongside Team Manager to create work schedules.
- Ensure accurate notes and times are kept on our Job Tracker System.
- Update parts mileage, component life and track safety equipment expiration dates.
- Hands-on involvement, organization and functionality of all pit equipment, race transporter, tool boxes, etc.
- Point of contact for the sanctioning body on technical matters.
- Participate in safely and efficiently loading our race transporters at the shop, and at the racetrack.
- Collaborate with the Team in additional workshop duties, such as cleaning, organizing, servicing, and equipment maintenance
- Travel to all race and test events as assigned.
- Everyone is expected to be an integral part of our team, contributing and collaborating with the highest level of integrity and team spirit.
Knowledge / Skills and Abilities:
- Communication skills – as a leader of the team you will be expected to be able to clearly and concisely communicate with upper management as well as the crew.
- Leadership skills – you’ll be expected to lead the crew at the shop and race track.
- Knowledgeable in proper mechanical practices for road and race cars.
- Time Management — Managing one's own time and supervise crew’s individual time management.
- Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Problem Sensitivity — The ability to recognize when a problem arises, something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
- Desire to collaborate with the rest of our team.
- Fabrication and welding experience is not required but preferred.
As a small team, we expect that will be hands on all the above tasks and you will always take ownership on your work which is much appreciated.
