Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dietary Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of dietary needs within a healthcare setting. As a Dietary Cook, you will play a crucial role in meal preparation, ensuring that all dishes meet nutritional standards and food safety regulations. Your expertise will contribute to the overall health and satisfaction of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Dietary Department to plan menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents or clients.
- Ensure all food handling practices comply with food safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including proper storage of food items.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and other cooking tools.
- Assist in training dietary aides on proper meal preparation techniques and kitchen protocols.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist in ordering as needed.
- Participate in special events or themed meals as directed by management.
Skills
- Proven experience as a cook in the food industry, preferably within a dietary department or similar environment.
- Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on meal preparation for various dietary needs.
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency with various kitchen equipment.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members effectively.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new techniques or recipes as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.50 - $14.00 per hour
