We are looking for a Document Accessibility Specialist to support a large-scale digital accessibility initiative with a government client.
In this role, you will ensure that digital documents (PDFs, Word, Excel, forms, reports) are fully accessible and compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, and ADA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit and remediate PDFs, forms, and Office documents for accessibility compliance
- Apply proper tagging, reading order, and document structure using tools like Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Validate documents using tools such as CommonLook and PAC (PDF Accessibility Checker)
- Develop accessible templates and best practices for internal teams
- Perform QA reviews and track remediation progress
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accessibility standards are met
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in document accessibility remediation
- Strong expertise with Adobe Acrobat Pro accessibility tools (tags panel, reading order, checker)
- Solid understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, PDF/UA standards
- Experience working with Word, Excel, and PDF accessibility workflows
- Knowledge of screen reader behavior (JAWS, NVDA preferred)
Preferred:
- Experience with government or large enterprise accessibility programs
- Familiarity with CommonLook, PAC, or similar tools
- Experience creating document templates and accessibility guidelines
- Relevant certifications (IAAP, DHS Trusted Tester, etc.)
Salary : $35 - $45
