About the Role
We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on Fiber Optic Drop Installer to help bring high-speed fiber internet directly to our customers’ homes. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining fiber optic drop cables and related hardware from the network to the residence.
You’ll work in the field, interact with homeowners, and take pride in delivering clean, professional installations that represent Connext’s commitment to quality and service.
What You’ll Do
- Communicate with homeowners to confirm and verify the installation path to the home
- Install Fiber Optic Network Interface Devices (NIDs)
- Install fiber through conduit from drop vaults to the side of the home
- Couple and extend conduit from existing conduit to the NID
- Perform aerial fiber installations from utility poles to the designated NID location
- Install fiber drops into Network Access Points (NAPs), both underground and aerial
- Test installed fiber drops to ensure proper signal and performance
- Dig, install, repair, or re-install damaged conduit and fiber as needed
- Restore trenches, sod, and work areas to an acceptable standard
- Safely operate utility trucks, equipment, and hand tools
- Maintain a professional, safety-focused approach on every job site
What We’re Looking For
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills when interacting with customers and coworkers
- Regular, reliable attendance and punctuality
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs with assistance
- Comfort performing physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, crouching, lifting, and reaching throughout the workday
- Ability to work while wearing required safety gear (boots, hardhat, safety glasses, etc.)
- Availability to work full-time (8 hours per day, 5 days per week), with occasional overtime, weekends, after-hours, or on-call work as needed
Work Environment
This role involves working outdoors and may include exposure to:
- Extreme heat or cold
- Wind, rain, snow, sleet, and dust
- Uneven terrain and adverse driving conditions
- Dust, fumes, or other airborne particles
