About the Role

A dynamic, student-centered charter high school in Northwest Washington, D.C., is seeking an enthusiastic High School Spanish Teacher to join our instructional team for the 2025 school year. This position is hybrid, with a combination of on-campus instructional days and remote planning or asynchronous responsibilities.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an educator passionate about language learning and dedicated to helping students build strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in Spanish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in Spanish for high school students at varying proficiency levels in a hybrid learning environment.
  • Create lessons that develop vocabulary, grammar, listening comprehension, and conversational fluency.
  • Incorporate authentic materials, cultural topics, multimedia resources, and interactive activities.
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment—both in-person and online—that encourages communication, cultural appreciation, and risk-taking in language learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English language learners and students with IEPs.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to track progress and guide instructional adjustments.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth in the language.
  • Collaborate with world language colleagues to design cohesive units, assessments, and instructional strategies.
  • Maintain open communication with families regarding student progress and engagement.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to a positive, inclusive school community.

QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience, ideally in Spanish or world language instruction.
  • Experience designing standards-aligned, proficiency-focused instruction.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Spanish language pedagogy and ACTFL standards.
  • Ability to foster supportive, engaging learning environments—both in-person and online.
  • Skilled in instructional strategies that promote communication, cultural understanding, and authentic language use.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusivity, and culturally responsive teaching.
