Connectivity Behavioral Health & Wellness
New, TX Part Time | Contractor
POSTED ON 10/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/24/2027

Schedule: Flexible | Primarily Medical Oversight & Consultation
Additional Compensation: Available for separately contracted startup projects and direct clinical services

Position Overview

Connectivity Behavioral Health & Wellness is preparing to open an innovative, adult co-occurring mental health and substance use Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in New Braunfels, Texas.

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and collaborative Medical Director (MD or DO) with expertise in psychiatry, addiction medicine, or co-occurring behavioral health treatment.

This is a unique opportunity to become a foundational member of our medical leadership team and help establish the medical framework of a comprehensive, whole-person behavioral health program.

The position is designed primarily for medical oversight, physician consultation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Our PMHNP will manage routine psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing patient care within their authorized scope of practice. The Medical Director will provide physician leadership, appropriate prescriptive delegation, consultation, and higher-level clinical guidance when needed.

About Our Program: Connectivity is a nonresidential day-treatment program. We do not provide detoxification, overnight care, or emergency medical services, and medications will not be stored on-site.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for a physician with an established practice seeking an additional medical leadership role with flexible scheduling and limited routine on-site requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Medical Director for Connectivity's adult PHP/IOP program.
  • Provide physician leadership supporting safe, effective, evidence-based, and patient-centered care.
  • Provide appropriate PMHNP prescriptive delegation and physician consultation in accordance with Texas requirements.
  • Remain reasonably available for physician consultation, complex clinical situations, and treatment-related guidance.
  • Participate in required chart reviews, quality assurance activities, and clinical oversight processes.
  • Provide medical guidance regarding psychiatric evaluations, medication management, clinical protocols, and standards of care.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, COO, Clinical Director, PMHNP, therapists, and multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Apply knowledge of ASAM Criteria and appropriate levels of care to support clinical decision-making.
  • Support medical necessity determinations, continued-stay criteria, and appropriate PHP/IOP levels of care when physician input is required.
  • Provide consultation regarding utilization review, payer requirements, and peer-to-peer reviews when clinically appropriate or necessary.
  • Promote accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the organization's EMR/EHR system.
  • Support compliance with applicable HIPAA requirements, Texas Medical Board regulations, physician delegation requirements, and DEA prescribing regulations where applicable.
  • Support applicable Texas HHSC licensing, CARF accreditation, and payer requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical risk management, and review of patient-care outcomes.
  • Support psychiatric crisis-response protocols, medical-stability guidelines, and appropriate emergency-transfer procedures.
  • Participate in occasional on-site visits or direct patient care when clinically necessary, required, or mutually agreed upon.

Medical Program Development

As a newly established PHP/IOP program, Connectivity is seeking a Medical Director who can assist with developing, reviewing, and approving the medical policies and clinical protocols necessary for program opening.

Areas of involvement may include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation and assessment procedures.
  • Medication management and prescribing protocols.
  • PMHNP delegation and physician consultation procedures.
  • Medical screening, admission criteria, and medical-stability guidelines.
  • Psychiatric crisis-response and emergency-transfer procedures.
  • Medical documentation, chart review, and quality-assurance standards.
  • Medical necessity, utilization review, and continued-stay documentation procedures.
  • Coordination of care between medical providers and the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Initial medical policy development may be defined as a separate startup project, with additional compensation based on the mutually agreed-upon scope of work.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active, unrestricted Texas physician license (MD or DO).
  • Medical training and clinical experience relevant to psychiatry, addiction medicine, or the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Eligibility and ability to provide appropriate physician consultation and prescriptive delegation under applicable Texas requirements.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care.
  • Ability to fulfill applicable medical oversight, quality assurance, and regulatory responsibilities.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Board certification in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.
  • Experience treating adults with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and PHP/IOP levels of care.
  • Experience serving as a Medical Director or collaborating with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and other advanced practice providers.
  • Familiarity with medical necessity criteria, utilization review, and managed-care requirements for behavioral health PHP/IOP programs.
  • Experience developing or reviewing medical policies, clinical protocols, and quality-assurance procedures.
  • Knowledge of Texas HHSC licensing requirements, CARF accreditation, and behavioral health regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, clinical documentation, and chart review.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, Texas physician delegation requirements, and applicable prescribing regulations.
  • Experience with telehealth, integrated behavioral health, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Interest in measurement-informed care and innovative whole-person treatment approaches.

What Makes Connectivity Different?

At Connectivity, we believe lasting recovery requires more than treating symptoms. It requires helping individuals rebuild meaningful connections with themselves, their health, their relationships, and their purpose.

Our Mind Heart Strength philosophy combines evidence-based behavioral health treatment with experiential programming, movement, physical wellness, and innovative technology.

Our comprehensive approach includes:

  • Trac9 Outcomes Measurement: Measurement-informed care that helps monitor client progress, identify challenges, and guide individualized treatment decisions.
  • Movement & Wellness: Physical fitness, movement-based programming, infrared sauna, cold plunge, and experiential wellness activities that complement clinical treatment.
  • Brain Frequency: Specialized neurotechnology services available through a separate company. Relevant coordination or consultation may be incorporated into the Medical Director's agreed-upon scope. Any direct Brain Frequency responsibilities would require a separate agreement.
  • Integrated Treatment: A multidisciplinary approach addressing mental health, substance use, physical wellness, and sustainable recovery.

We are building a program where medical providers, therapists, recovery coaches, and leadership collaborate to deliver meaningful client outcomes.
