Job Overview
We are seeking a patient, energetic and positive provider who is passionate about working with special needs children. The best candidate would be compassionate and understanding, willing to be fully present and engaged with the child and has a high sense of creativity. Child is 6yo with a diagnosis of autism w/PDA and ADHD. Care will be in the family's home and/or within the local community. Child is homeschooled.
Duties
- Assist child with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide medication administration
- Prepare nutritious meals adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to child's needs, including autism/PDA and ADHD care
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, organizing, and sanitation
- Engage child in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Respond promptly to emergencies with first aid or CPR when necessary
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, parents, and team members to ensure comprehensive care
- provide assistance with homeschool curriculum and extra curricular activities
Experience
Candidates should possess prior experience in childcare, special needs care, home health, assisted living, or long-term care environments. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and neurological disorders such as autism/pda and ADHD is highly valued. Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are required. Familiarity with medication administration, patient monitoring, and care planning. Prior experience in special education will be considered a plus. Candidates must demonstrate patience, empathy, strong observational skills for patient monitoring, and the ability to handle difficult behaviors when necessary. A background in ABA, teaching, or general childcare is beneficial for success in this role.
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
