Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Position Summary

Working from the Duluth, GA office, the High School Program Coordinator- Coordinator of EOCs and Instruction Programs at Georgia Connections Academy is a 12-month employee school-level leader who will serve on the High School Leadership Team. They will support the school in driving academic and cultural outcomes for students and serve as a resource for teachers regarding student achievement, attendance, behavior, and Academic Integrity. Additionally, the High School Program Coordinator-Coordinator of Special Populations will plan and implement programs designed to increase student academic achievement. All GACA staff must be able to participate in monthly in-person activities, including but not limited to:

  • School and department meetings,
  • Student engagement opportunities,
  • Required training/development,
  • School-level events, such as state testing and graduation. 

This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid teaching certification and GAPSC educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program.
  • Must have received a rating of Effective or Highly Effective in the most recent performance reviews. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid teaching Georgia PSC certification and educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program.
  • Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably as a teacher or coach.
  • Preferred experience on an EOC team. 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional best practices. 
  • Commitment to student success and teacher support. 
  • Must receive manager recommendation. 
  • Possesses a positive customer service attitude in interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Flexible and willing to provide and receive constructive feedback. 
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel).
  • Must be able and willing to conduct and participate in collaborative meetings, professional development sessions, and events at the GACA office and/or other locations as needed.
  • The applicant should be prepared to attend events and meetings at the GACA office in Duluth, as well as travel to meet with students in different regions of the state throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the High School Principal and Assistant Principals on day-to-day school-wide issues and represent a united school leadership team.
  • Provide support in the school’s efforts to meet state and federal targets relating to student achievement, especially for students in the school’s significant groups.
  • Strategize with the leadership team on compliance staffing, caseload allocations, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) concerns.
  • Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in IEP meetings. 
  • Support the High School Leadership Team with audit reviews, special education documentation verification, and accommodations.
  • Monitor compliance reports, including GO IEP Connexus reports, and take necessary follow-up actions.
  • Strategize and Support High School Leadership Team with audit reviews, compliance, caseload allocations and reporting for MTSS and ESOL populations.
  • Collect and analyze data pertaining to the school year task cycle such as homeroom contacts, grading, LiveLesson attendance to identify areas of improvement and strategies to enhance outcomes. 
  • Analyzing student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance academic outcomes specifically for special populations
  • Collaborate with Department Administrative Leads, Instructional Coaches and other district staff to analyze data and create instructional plan for student accountability and achievement pertaining to End-of-Course Testing
  • Monitor and track data for students enrolled in/scheduled to complete EOC Testing
  • Organize Curriculum and Instructional Programming including:
    • Organize the implementation of Tier 1 interventions to support all students in ensuring high-quality support
    • Assist in managing the referral process for identifying students in ended of Tier 2 interventions
    • Lead and monitor implementation of instructional materials and resources
    • Use data to design targeted interventions of support plans for students and teachers
    • Analyze student assessment data to identify trends and increase student achievement
  • Provide input on the development of the school-based strategic planning in collaboration with other school staff and stakeholders.
  • Supports and conducts action/learning team meetings to maintain a positive collaborative environment and facilitate vertical planning.
  • Observe, supervise, and evaluate staff as assigned in accordance with district policies including
  • Assist the High School Leadership Team with administrative duties pertaining to the planning, organization, oversight and leadership of programs, policies, procedures, and services.
  • Support quality classroom instruction and its improvement in all settings through monitoring, observing, model teaching, and coaching.
  • Diligently seek opportunities for professional development, act as a coach and sounding board, and serve as an organizational role model in cultivating a culture of high expectations and support.
  • Assist the Principal & Assistant Principals in teacher recruitment and hiring
  • Special Projects- Take on special projects or initiatives as assigned by the Principal to contribute to the overall improvement of the school.
