THE ORGANIZATION
Connection Training Services, formed in 1994, is a Pennsylvania non-profit organization with an IRS 501©status, and a primary mission to provide economically disadvantaged populations, by providing employment and vocational training services, and a pathway towards self-sufficiency, at no cost. Additional services offered include GED preparation, academic and work aptitude assessment, case management, advocacy and referral services. CTS offers a holistic approach to members of minority racial and ethnic groups living in poverty in Philadelphia, Chester, and Camden areas. These populations include at-risk and adjudicated delinquent populations, welfare recipients, and displaced workers, returning citizens, unemployed and under-employed, homeless, and hard-to-serve populations. POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Director of the CTS-Project Y.E.S. YouthBuild Program, the YouthBuild AmeriCorps Program Coordinator will be responsible for provision of core services around program monitoring, coordination of recruitment services, program data management and contract compliance, evaluation and program development. This is a full-time position with the ultimate goal of adding value to youth AmeriCorps Members, 16-24 years old, being served within the YouthBuild model. Members are placed in community service learning activities for 360 hours, while wrapping at least 90 hours or education and training activities around this most coveted national service activity. The term of service will occur within one year, typically beginning in October. Member start and end dates may vary depending on calendar of service
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, interview, and screen all potential YouthBuild AmeriCorps members.
- Work with Program Director to ensure that all program performance objectives are met within the one-year timeframe.
- Collaborate with YouthBuild Case Manager to maintain AmeriCorps member records, including documentation of service hours and scheduling.
- Monitor program sites to ensure that all member project requirements and objectives are met in a timely manner.
- Work with service site supervisors to develop appropriate placements for AmeriCorps members
- Conduct evaluations of AmeriCorps members and their service projects.
- Collaborate with Program Director to coordinate program evaluation studies.
- Coordinate program planning meetings and training activities on behalf of AmeriCorps Members.
- Collaborate with GED Instructor to ensure that all AmeriCorps member are compliant with their minimum requirements for education and training.
- Communicate with internal and external constituents - funding partners, consultants, program staff and YouthBuild AmeriCorps Portfolio Manager.
- Collaborate with Case Manager to maintain an up-to-date comprehensive filing system, and organize processes, procedures, and systems for maximum efficiency.
- Create AmeriCorps Member bi-weekly stipend spreadsheets, and submit to Program Director for review.
- Take on special projects as needed, such as conduct research and analysis on current site and programmatic issues, policies, partnerships and provide succinct summaries and reports.
- Complete any task as requested by Program Director.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services (Master’s Degree preferred) and minimum three years’ professional experience in related field.
- Solid experience working with youth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and inter-personal skills.
- Strong writing, research and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) software, and use of customized databases.
- Ability to organize and coordinate various community activities.
- Strong ability and desire to multi-task as needed.
- High degree of independence, flexibility, initiative and commitment.
- Ability to deal effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Must possess cultural competence.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality final products.

CO-SUPERVISES
AmeriCorps Members alongside YouthBuild Case Manager
KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position works closely with CTS’-Project Y.E.S. YouthBuild Partners.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
