What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) position at Connecting Communities in Action?
The provision of evidence based, person centered treatment for people with substance use disorders.
Education & Experience:
· Associates Degree in human services or related field, plus CASAC 2 required
· Master’s Degree in Human Services related field plus CASAC-2 preferred
Other Requirements & Skills:
· Must have valid driver’s license, insurability, and reliable transportation.
· Must pass Justice Center, State Central Registry and Criminal background checks.
· Experience with assessment, and diagnosis of substance use disorders
· Knowledge of evidence-based treatment practices, trauma informed care and person-centered treatment approaches.
· Knowledge of crisis intervention and stabilization, which includes, but is not limited to suicide prevention.
· Basic technology skills including typing, phone use, computers, and basic software use.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability and motivation to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team and with the public.
· Openness to learning new skills and technology as necessary; must participate in training as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Assessment, evaluation, and diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) clients presenting for services
· Screening and risk assessment of SUD clients
· Person-centered treatment planning in collaboration with SUD clients
· Provision of comprehensive SUD counseling interventions, including individual, group and family therapy.
· Participation in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings
· Case management, including coordination of care amongst all treatment providers involved in clients’ care
· Completion of required documentation in a timely manner as outlined in the DCS Policy and Procedure and in keeping with funder requirements.
· Shall be responsible to comply with all funding source regulations, for creating a safe environment, and to report any unsafe situations to the immediate supervisor.
· Must be enthusiastic about promoting the mission of CCA, be willing to work towards the good of the entire agency, and to act as an ambassador of CCA throughout the community.
· Other duties as assigned.
