CT State Community College provides a wide range of educational programs and makes these available to the diverse population of the state. Some students and potential students have disabilities which make their participation in higher education more difficult than for students without these limitations. To facilitate and accommodate the full range of students, the College will coordinate classroom accessibility for students with disabilities and arrange reasonable accommodation services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Dean or Director of Accessibility and Disability Services, the Student Accessibility/Disability Services Associate is responsible for the effective performance in these essential duties:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of accessibility services.
  • Engages in supporting the interactive process with students, faculty, and staff to access and implement accommodations.
  • Collects medical and educational documentation to determine disability and initiates review by Director for reasonable, effective and course-specific accommodations that uphold academic integrity and do not fundamentally alter the program of study.
  • Maintains comprehensive records of all interactions and decisions related to accommodation within the Accommodate system, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to assist facilitating the effective implementation of approved academic accommodations.
  • Contribute to conflict resolution efforts involving students, faculty, staff, and administration, applying equity-centered strategies to address complex accessibility issues and ensure adherence to ADA and Section 504 requirements.
  • Protects the confidentiality of student disability records in accordance with institutional policies and legal standards.                          
  • Supports testing accommodation for students, ensuring appropriate arrangements are coordinated and executed. Test proctoring as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and special assignments as needed to support the mission of the Office for Disability and Accessibility Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriately related field

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Two (2) years of experience in academic accommodation for students or a closely related field
  • Experience with academic accommodation for students with disabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for recruitment activities.
Salary 
  • $43.70 hourly
