Position Overview

Purpose

Lead and grow Scouting and Learning for Life (LFL) programs by building strong community partnerships, recruiting and training volunteers, and supporting youth development through educational, leadership, character, and career-building initiatives.

Summary

The Executive provides leadership for Scouting and LFL programs within the community. This role focuses on program development, volunteer engagement, fundraising, and membership growth. The executive works closely with schools, businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders to expand opportunities for youth while ensuring program quality and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Leadership & Training
  • Recruit, train, and inspire volunteers to deliver quality youth programs.
  • Guide volunteers and committees to achieve community goals.
  • Provide ongoing support through meetings, training events, and recognition.
  • Program Development
  • Promote and expand Scouting and LFL programs in schools, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Ensure programs align with national standards and local needs.
  • Support camps, activities, and events that foster youth participation.
  • Community Engagement & Partnerships
  • Build relationships with civic, religious, educational, and business leaders.
  • Collaborate with partners to extend programs and strengthen community impact.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Scouting and LFL in the community.
  • Fundraising & Financial Management
  • Secure financial support through campaigns, events, and donor relations.
  • Recruit and guide volunteer leadership for fundraising efforts.
  • Achieve district financial and participation objectives.
  • Membership Growth
  • Drive recruitment and retention of youth members and volunteers.
  • Develop action plans for balanced growth across programs.
  • Track and report membership progress to the supervisor.

  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and committed to high ethical standards.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, Nonprofit Management, and Management, or related field (required).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or community engagement.
  • Strong skills in leadership, communication, marketing, and organizational management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must meet Scouting America leadership and membership standards.
  • Background checks (criminal, reference, motor vehicle) required.
  • Scouting experience preferred but not required.
