Summary:

The Shift Supervisor position provides supervision for program staff and oversees the operation of the unit and the services provided to clients during the designated shift. He/she reports to the Program Director and coordinates with referral sources, funding agencies and regulatory bodies as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of staff on duty during the designated shift; assist in staff training and development.

  • Develop and distribute monthly schedule; ensure maintenance of schedule and COD coverage.

  • Provide documented, regularly scheduled supervisions to Technicians.

  • Ensure that program operations are conducted in accordance with internal Policies and Procedures and the requirements of CSSD, DMHAS, DOC, DSS and regulatory bodies.

  • Oversee client activity and safety, including participation in groups, drug screens, accountability, and chores via direct monitoring and monitoring of facility cameras.

  • Manage and review operational tracking systems such as med room logs, binder and corrections, first aid inventory, room search logs, and chore lists as assigned. 

  • Ensure scheduling of initial PCP and medical appointments and receipt of related documentation (1st shift).

  • Participate in the ordering, storage and distribution of facility materials and supplies.

  • Ensure distribution and completion of quarterly satisfaction surveys.

  • Conduct facility inspections and serve as the facility's representative on the Safety Committee as assigned.

  • Coordinate facility transportation needs with the Facility Director.

  • Facilitate life skills and recovery-focused educational groups as assigned to improve clients' ability to manage the tasks of daily living and recovery and to develop and practice prosocial behaviors.

  • Input all required documentation in Connecticut Renaissance's EHR accurately and timely.

  • Prepare and distribute incident reports in accordance with program Policies and Procedures.

  • Share in On-Call duties with other supervisors and the Program Director.

  • Complete all internally and externally mandated trainings and development activities.

  • Provide urinalysis/breathalyzer testing when indicated and within guidelines of monitoring.

  • Assist with daily residential tasks including but not limited to head-count, tours, medication monitoring, log book maintenance and transportation of clients when needed. 

  • Participate in all required internal and external meetings and supervisions.

  • Complete all required internal and external trainings to enhance knowledge and skill level. Staffing 

  • Adhere to state and federal regulations and standards of accreditation, facility licensure, DSS and ASAM criteria, and funding sources.

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding agency outcomes and performance measures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

Knowledge Of:

  • Electronic Healthcare Record systems.

  • General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability To:

  • Supervise staff, including the development of performance evaluations.

  • Interact effectively with representatives of referral and regulatory agencies.

  • Analyze and solve problems effectively and efficiently.

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Manage priorities to meet deadlines and demonstrate multi-tasking skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Degree or equivalent.

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Human Services fields a plus.

  • Current Connecticut Drug & Alcohol Certification a plus.

  • Experience within the criminal justice and/or behavioral health sectors.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Other:

  • Must be dependable and reliable; detailed oriented; and able to interface easily with clients, staff, and referral sources.

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle

  • Position requires climbing stairs and the ability to lift 20lbs or more

  • May need to travel to other CTR locations

  • Must successfully complete the introductory probationary employment period.

  • Must have a valid CT driver's license.

  • Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20 pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment.
