Qualifications
- Must be physically able to perform all the duties of this classification.
- Must have a CT State MVD (CDL Class B with Hazardous Material Endorsement) license and a good driving record.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively and possess strong leadership ability.
- Must be able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to make simple arithmetical calculations accurately, read and interpret drawings of underground structures and to make sketches.
- Must possess good knowledge of the distribution system and the safe and proper use of materials, methods, procedures, tools, equipment, and instruments used in the Distribution Operations, including stopping and bypass equipment.
- Must be able to exercise good judgement and make prompt and accurate decisions.
- Must be able to perform basic relights for customers on appliances and equipment for loads that include meter capacities to 425 CFH.
- *Lays out work and delegates duties to each member.
- *Makes out records of time, equipment used, materials hauled and used, and makes out initial accident and injury reports.
- *Makes simple field sketches of work completed.
- *Responsible for the safe and proper use and maintenance of all tools and equipment assigned to the crew under this direction.
- *Responsible for the safe operation of trucks and equipment while under this direction.
- *Assists manually in performance of work.
- *Installs and repairs gas mains, services, appurtenances and performs all work associated with or related to Distribution Operations and its system.
- Relights customers' appliances and equipment as required.
- May involve handling hazardous waste. Training will be provided by the Company to meet requirements of 40 CFR 265.16.
- Any applicant transferring into the department or filling this position from the outside will be required to provide after hours and weekend emergency coverage on a rotating basis (on-call coverage).
