Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting practices within the construction industry. This pivotal role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, and compliance, all while supporting project teams with accurate financial insights. The ideal candidate will possess strong construction management software skills, including experience with ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and HeavyBid, along with a solid understanding of construction estimating, project scheduling, and contract management. Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements aligned with industry standards.
- Oversee project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts to support project planning and execution.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to monitor project costs, schedules, and resource allocations using construction management software such as Primavera P6 and Civil 3D.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations by reviewing contracts and change orders thoroughly.
- Lead the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Coordinate with project teams on project scheduling, schematics review, blueprint reading, and site logistics to optimize workflow efficiency.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements in construction management practices.
- Supervise accounting staff and provide training on specialized software tools including Project management platforms like ProCore and Bluebeam.
- Support project coordination efforts by providing timely financial insights that influence decision-making processes on-site and office-based teams.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Controller or senior finance professional within the construction industry or related heavy civil sectors.
- Extensive knowledge of construction estimating techniques and familiarity with construction site operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in construction management software such as Primavera P6, Civil 3D, HeavyBid, and other project scheduling tools.
- Strong background in contract review, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and project documentation management.
- Experience managing budgets for large-scale projects with complex cost structures.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Prior hands-on experience in construction site environments is highly desirable to understand field-to-office financial workflows.
