Description
CIFC Health a program of Connecticut Institute For Communities, Inc.'s (CIFC) Pediatric Department is seeking a full-time compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who can provide medical care to children from birth through late teens. The candidate will collaborate with doctors, and other healthcare professionals and directly with children, adolescents, and teenagers to help address underlying medical conditions and provide the highest standard of care to our patients.
Responsibilities within LPN License:
LPNs gather information to be used by providers in assessment and patient care.
LPNs Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms and medical history to keep accurate records
LPNs administer medications, draw blood, and give childhood vaccinations
LPNs deal with the anxieties and demands of parents and help families deal with their child's illness or injury
LPNs provide education to patients and families on healthcare topics
LPNs remain up to date on the latest developments, rules and regulations,
drug therapies, equipment and treatment procedures
LPNs collaborate with school nurses, WIC colleagues, DCF and other medical departments as needed. Completes
paperwork needed by external organization (e.g. school PE forms).
LPNs triage for calls on patients, using established protocols to determine appropriate care, including at home management,
or timing and location of medical visits.
LPNs provide patient/family education including education on after hours, triage and referral services, and disease states.
Requirements
Bachelor's or associate's degree in nursing
Current LPN license in the state of Connecticut
Relevant training and/or certifications as a Pediatric Nurse
Experience in clinical work as a pediatric nurse preferred
Emotional and mental strength, dedication and self-motivation
Empathy and the ability to relate to children
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual strongly encouraged to apply
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and attention to detail and ability to multitask
Experience with electronic medical records required; eClinical Works preferred.
