What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Maternity Technician position at CONNECTICUT HUMANE SOCIETY?
Have you always wanted to be involved in the hands-on care of baby animals? Don't want to be bored all summer? Well then, the Connecticut Humane Society’s shelter located in Newington, is seeking a summer Foster Care staff member to help take care of our babies!
This position will be responsible for the daily care of the animals in our maternity and whelping areas including but not limited to: provision of adequate food and water, kennel cleaning, dog walking in all types of weather conditions, monitoring animals and reporting health or behavior abnormalities, socializing animals, taking daily weights and bottle-feeding underage animals. Other duties may include preparing foster supplies, signing out animals to foster, assisting with veterinary appointments for foster animals and restocking supplies as needed.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to focus on learning how to take care of underage animals or get a behind the scenes look at veterinary medicine. We are looking for a proactive, organized individual who can work well within our foster team. Interested individuals must be able to handle multiple priorities and enjoy a busy environment.

Pay Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Pay Range: $18.00/HR to start
Days / Hours: Schedule is set at Thursday through Monday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
Required
- Education: High school diploma/GED
- Skills: Ability to perform physically strenuous activities which will require lifting of moderate to heavy weights (up to 40 lbs.),standing and/or bending, pushing brooms
- Technology: Proficiency in computers

- Skills: Knowledge of animal handling and experience preferred.
