About CCAT: Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) is a manufacturing technology innovation and readiness center focused on helping manufacturers adopt advanced technologies and strengthen their operations. We work with companies across manufacturing and industrial supply chains to evaluate, implement, and integrate the adoption of digital, 3D printing and other critical technologies. By leveraging engineering expertise in model-based definition, digital thread, and additive manufacturing along with technical evaluations, technology demonstrations, and hands-on training, CCAT enables companies to accelerate technology adoption and upskill employees to improve productivity and profitability.

 

CCAT is a nonprofit, non-traditional defense contractor and government fiduciary dedicated to advancing applied technologies and strengthening the U.S. industrial base. CCAT partners with federal and state agencies—including the DOW, DOE, NASA, SBA, and USDOC—through government-funded and commercial programs that support both defense and commercial manufacturing.


Position Title: Grant Administrator

 

Why This Role Matters: As a member of the finance team, the Grant Administrator will be responsible for assisting with the effective administration of several state funded grant programs. As a fiduciary for the State of Connecticut, CCAT manages the process of providing funding assistance to Connecticut manufacturing companies as a means of helping them adopt new technologies and expand their workforce. The grant administrator will be entrusted with the detailed task of accepting grant applications, evaluating their content, and making funding recommendations in accordance with prescribed procedures and guidelines. In addition to being actively involved with grant processing, the Grant Administrator will also be called upon to assist the company’s Controller and Chief Financial Officer with various, bookkeeping, and accounting tasks.


How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Review and analyze grant applications to ensure completeness and compliance with program guidelines
  • Formulate funding recommendations based on proposed project costs and prescribed matching criteria
  • Track the status of pending applications from multiple applicants and for different programs
  • Generate and issue award packages to approved grant recipients
  • Provide notification to declined applicants and assist in advising funding alternatives
  • Solicit and record funding impact and outcomes
  • Assist in the generation of monthly and quarterly progress reports
  • Monitor grant funding budgets and in preparing proposals for future funding
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve and optimize the workflow and timeliness of the grant process
  • Assist with bank reconciliation and month-end accounting activities
  • Act as department lead for grant-related inquiries and program overviews
  • Create Salesforce reports to analyze program usage and opportunities
  • Serve as lead on Cybersecurity assistance programs
  • Conduct marketing outreach and customer education efforts to promote other CCAT services and offerings, including underutilized programs
  • Coordinate efforts with CT Dept of Labor & Apprenticeship staff to support streamlined responses
  • Process new account set up requests, including conducting background research and process system set- up
  • Perform company merger and acquisition research and interface with companies.
  • Adhere to all CCAT safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment
  • Perform all other duties as assigned


Education: 4-year accounting, business, or finance degree


What Helps You Succeed:

  • 5 years’ audit, financial analyst, grant administration, loan processing experience
  • Familiarity with grant administration especially in foundations/nonprofits
  • Above average Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong grasp of MS Outlook and MS Word
  • Thoroughly attentive personality with above average attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills required
  • Keen ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong written communication skills needed
  • Must be comfortable communicating and interfacing with business owners and manufacturing executives
  • Basic accounting and bookkeeping skills (especially in a non-profit environment)
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by U.S. export control regulations and able to comply with all applicable export control requirements


Nice to Haves:

  • Prior experience working in the manufacturing industry
  • Experience with DocuSign
  • Familiarity with MS PowerPoint


What the Work Environment Looks Like: The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity tools, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. The person in this position constantly communicates with individuals on a variety of sensitive and legal issues. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Occasionally travels to business-related sites. Requires the ability to read computer screens and printed material. Normal conditions with reasonable workstation flexibility. Moderate noise (business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
